We are excited your child(ren) will be swimming for us in JRAC Champs Events! It truly is a fun day and we love seeing our swimmers shine! Here are further details about Champs and all the happenings around it!

*Glen Allen will have a team tent in the tent city area! Bring chairs!

*Jenny will bring some extra sharpies if you need them and will buy 2 copies of the heat sheets for the tent/team to share!

Gliders Champs t-shirt

Each child who qualified for Champs will be receiving a T-shirt at no charge. Swimmers' names will be on the back. (Even if they don’t swim at champs, they receive a shirt.) These shirts have been generously donated by the Babik family and Dominion Orthodontics. Their daughter Ava, is a Glider Mite and will swim in Champs too!

Practice Schedule:

Morning Practice:

Mites and Midgets 9 a.m. -10 a.m.

Juniors, Intermediates & Seniors 10 a.m. - 11 a.m.

Afternoon Practice - same schedule

Mites 5:3- p.m. - 6 p.m.

Midgets, Juniors, Intermediates & Seniors 6 p.m. - 7 p.m.

Pasta Dinner 

We are opting out of a pasta dinner this year due to having 2 less practice days, early start time on Wednesday, etc.

Champs Fun Practice/ribbons/breakfast –Thursday morning after Champs!

9:30-11:00a.m.- we will be serving doughnuts, juice and tons of fun! We will pass Champs ribbons too! Bring a float.

Volunteer Positions

We are required to provide volunteers for Champs, just like we do for our regular season meets. The league chooses what spots we need to fill and have created a sign-up genius. Please look at the slots and sign-up for one slot per family. We need to have the slots filled as quickly as possible. Please try and sign-up by Saturday night. If you are one of the officials or clerk of course for Champs, this counts as your volunteer time! Thanks to all the families who have already signed up!!!

Parking

IMPORTANT:

Swimmer drop-off in the SWIM RVA lot will be available all day. No driver should leave their car at any time in the drop-off area.

There is PLENTY of near-by, free parking! No riding a shuttle bus this year! Handicapped spaces will be available for those visitors with DMV issued handicapped license plates or mirror tags.

Please do not park in the Noble Academy parking lot. You will be towed.

Warm-Up times Wednesday of Champs

Wednesday – 7:15-8:15 a.m. – Lane 6 - girl’s pool

Other info. you might like to know!

• Jenny will be at Champs all day! Should you need anything please come find her! Jenny’s cell # is 804-539-6021 - call or text as needed! (That’s what I’m here for!)

• Best behavior is expected of all swimmers at all times. No horse play, staying and playing in locker rooms and they are expected to follow directions/rules given by volunteers. Please remind your swimmers.

• NOTE: Port-a-potties are available in the tent city area, but you will have access to the bathrooms inside SwimRVA! Bathrooms near the elevators are for spectators. Locker room bathrooms are for athletes and officials.

• Chairs and Coolers will not be allowed inside the facility. Chairs, coolers and food at our tent is just fine!

• Saving seats inside is prohibited.

• No glass containers allowed inside the facility.

• Events being called to the Clerk of Course will be displayed on the Jumbotron (they are both inside & outside) and also verbally announced.

• Clerk of course is in the warm-up pool area.

• The SWIM RVA shop will be open during the meet, offering an assortment of swim apparel.

• Concessions will be available in the hospitality room.

• Volunteers check-in 30 minutes before each scheduled shift at the Volunteer Information Booth. This is near the T-shirt and heat sheet sales inside the building.
