Swim Team Updates Week of June 22
Thanks to everyone who participated in our Spirit Night at Noodles last week! We appreciate the Glider Fam supporting the team!
Swim-A-Thon
Our Swim-A-Thon is THIS FRIDAY June 27th 8am-11am in lieu of regular practice. More information can be found at this link. If your swimmer hasn’t received a packet yet, check in with one of the coaches. Swimmers will earn money for the Gliders by swimming lengths of the pool (up to 200 laps which is 2.84 miles!). Whether you can swim 2 laps or 200 laps, any amount is great! Money raised will help fund a knee buoys (to help our Gliders practice butterfly!), and other support for the team! We are investing in strengthening and retaining our coaches and providing a strong summer swim experience for the Gliders! Donations can be made via cash or check and turned in to swim coaches or Nicole/Leigh Anne or can be made online at this link.
Meet #4 - GA at Richmond Country Club
I know it seems like a broken record, but we still have a few openings for volunteer spots and need some help. We ask for families to sign up for 4 volunteer slots through the swim season to help our season run smoothly. Thank you to all the families who have already filled their 4 slots and keep volunteering to help our team and swimmers! Click here to sign up in SwimTopia.

“The Bridge” and Safety
As you pass along information to the coaches, please have them prepare the swimmers (and parents) that there will be a bridge across the pool that is only for meet officials and coaches. Yes, it is a bridge over water and like a magnet, the kids can’t resist. But they need to. For safety, all swimmers need to stay out of the water, including sitting and dangling legs into the water, in the other areas of the pool (diving well, beach entry, fountains, and along the edges of lanes 1 and 8). The separate adult pool area will also be closed off. Swimmers and parents also need to be aware of coaches, timers, runners, strokes and turns judges, and the referee who need clear access to the pool for their jobs along the edges of the pool.
Clerk of Course
Located at the far side of the pool in the fenced area on the splash pad by the pump
Swim Meet Entries
We are so happy that our swimmers have had the opportunity to expand their events by swimming alternate events during meets. Our coaches put hours into planning swim meets and setting up entries for what is best for swimmers and the team based on practices/times and based on the times they receive from the other pools. While we understand you may want your swimmer to try other events, please know the coaches will not be taking requests from parents for specific events or changes for future meets. If your child has an event they are interested in, they are welcome to self advocate to the coaches, but meet entries are at the discretion of the coaches.
