Welcome to the 2025 season of the Gliders summer swim! We’re excited to share a bunch of updates and links. And don’t forget to check out our website for information about the season.

Practices start soon!

Next week, we’re holding age group orientations for each of our groups. Note that some of these dates/times have changed from what was previously posted.

Ages 11-12 Monday, May 12th, 5:30-6:30

Ages 9-10 Wednesday, May 14th, 5:30-6:30

Ages 8 and under Thursday, May 15th, 4:30-5:30

Ages 13+ Thursday, May 15th 5:30-6:30

During these meetings, your swimmers will have a chance to connect with our returning coaches, Addison Yocom (head coach) and Judson Lifsey (assistant coach) and meet our new assistant coaches, Anna Herold and Chloe Coward, who are both seniors on the team.

We’ll also be covering expectations, doing some dry land conditioning, reviewing some of the fundamentals of the 4 competitive strokes and previewing some of the fun plans for this season.

We’ll start practices in the pool on Monday 5/19 with the following schedule M-Th until school is out:

Ages 8 and under - 4:30 - 5:00 pm

Ages 9-10 - 5:00 - 5:45 pm

Ages 11-12 - 5:45 - 6:30 pm

Ages 13 and older - 6:30 - 7:30 pm

Registration

Registration fees will be updated in MemberSplash on Saturday by noon. The same change in how processing fees are charged that applied for pool dues applies for swim team payments, i.e. for transactions processed in MemberSplash, you’ll be responsible for paying the processing fees for either ACH or credit cards. If you’d prefer to pay by check, please bring payment to the first practice and give it to Nicole or Leigh Anne.

Monday, July 7 - Country Club of Virginia (CCV) at Glen Allen

Championship Meet (for selected swimmers) will be held on July 16th at SwimRVA in Chesterfield County

Swim meet dates have been added in Swimtopia and job signup is open. Volunteers are essential to the swim team and the running of meets, and we cannot begin meets until we have filled our positions. We ask that each family sign up for 4 slots to help these meets run smoothly. Volunteering can be anything from setting up the meets or timing and anything in between! More info on the volunteer jobs can be found on our website.

We are still looking for 1-2 people to help run our Clerk of Course. Most meet times are set at 6PM for the meet start, warmups and sign-in times will be communicated.  We will announce home meet themes soon!

A Note from Nicole and Leigh Anne

We’re excited for our season to get underway. We know how much the Gliders add to our swimmers' summer experiences. We’re looking forward to focusing on the FUNdamentals, making sure our swimmers are learning and improving, and building community at GACC! It's our first season as reps, so if you see us on the pool deck, make sure to introduce yourself! We look forward to supporting our coaches, swimmers, and families this season.
