Senior reminders (and a last minute request)

    Dear Glider Seniors and parents,

It’s hard to believe that we only have one regular season Glider’s swim meet left in your Glider careers!

Here is some information on the last meet’s activities, a JRAC request, and a follow-up on information that we need from each of you…

1.Our final meet is Monday, and we have a few old and new traditions for the graduating seniors:

    a. We would like to get a group picture right before warmups if possible. Our warmups are at 5:15, so if seniors could try to be at the diving well at 5:10 to have a quick group picture taken. Unfortunately, I know that not everyone can be there.

    b. At 5:50, right before the meet starts, we will have all the seniors announced to step up on the blocks.

    c. At half-time there will be a senior float relay – we are asking Kanawha to participate as well – we hope to have the whole team join at the pool to cheer and celebrate you together!

    d. Finally, before each of the senior’s last individual event, we will have you step up and read your senior statement (thanks to parent’s, etc.)

    2.JRAC request for Champs –

    a. JRAC would like to recognize graduating seniors, as well as those who graduated last year but for whom 2024 is their last year of eligibility, swimming at Champs. We will have a Senior Parade with a slideshow in the morning directly following warm-ups.

    b. In order to be announced and included in the slideshow, the graduating senior will need to complete this google form at this link: https://forms.gle/Dan9smatcdNMo5ez5

    c. Note that we have a tight deadline - information must be submitted no later than 10pm on Sunday, July 7. We have to submit the slideshow to SwimRVA and will not be able to add anyone after the deadline.

    3. Following up on a few requests sent a few weeks ago. Please respond if you haven't already. Here is some information that we would love to gather from each of our seniors:

    a. Photos: we would love a couple of photos from each of you. One of you as a Glider, the younger, the better! And the second, a more recent senior picture - does not have to be a Glider picture.

    b. Future Plans: we would love to know and share your future plans for this fall as we celebrate you the rest of this season.

    c. A favorite memory or musing about your time as a Glider. What made your Glider experience special? Was it the camaraderie, early morning practices, or thrilling races, or something else.

    d. How many years have you been a Glider?

    e. Your senior statement to be read as you take the blocks for your final event. Maybe 30 seconds or so. If you don’t send anything, the coaches may make something up!

    Thanks,

    Mark and Kristi
