    Glider news and notes - June 12th edition

      Hello Gliders,

      We hope you’re having a fantastic swim season! As we gear up for Meet #3, here are some important updates:

      1. Meet Location and Schedule: Please note that the meet times are a little bit different than the first two meets. 
        • Meet #3 will take place at Woodmont Recreation Center: 
        • 2334 Traymore Rd, Richmond, VA 23235
        • Check in time: 5:30 PM.
        • Warm up time: 6:00 PM
        • Meet start: 6:30 PM.

        Meet entries will be sent out soon.

      2. Volunteer Needs:
        • We rely on our amazing volunteers to run successful meets. we still have several openings for this meet. If you’ve not met your commitment of four slots, please strongly consider signing up for this meet. There are several new spots they were added today based on a request from the other team.
        • We need the following:
        • First and second half caller
        • First and second half head table helper
        • Two second-half timer
        • Second-half strokes and turns judge
      3. Swimathon Reminder:
        • Our annual swimathon is coming up on June 18. Let’s make a splash and raise funds for our team! See the attached flyer for additional information. There’s no need to register ahead of time, just get some pledges, then come and swim!
      4. Water Country Tickets:
        • Exciting news! We have a few extra discounted tickets for water country if you didn’t pre-order tickets and are still interested in tickets, please reach out to us by replying to this email.
      5. Schedule Change for Next Wednesday:
        • Due to the Juneteenth holiday, and the pool opening early at 10 AM,11-18 year-old practice scheduled for 10:00-11:00 AM, has been canceled. The rest of our practice on Wednesday, are still as scheduled.

      6. POP-UP SPIRIT WEAR SHOP — Show your Glen Allen Gliders and Glen Allen Community Center spirit by ordering Sprit Wear to show off and promote GACC around town. This sale has a quick turnaround and orders must be placed by Sunday, June 23rd. Visit https://glidersspiritwear.itemorder.com/shop/home/ to place your order.
