Fun Practice and Next Meet
Hello everyone!
We had a great first fun practice today! Attached are the current results of the Glider Games, with points added for attendance and sportsmanship.
We just want to remind everyone of a couple of things.
1. Parents, please stay with your swimmer until we call them over. Fun practices this summer take a few minutes to set up, so please bear with us.
2. Fun practice for all age groups is 9:30-10:30, this was a change from earlier, so we wanted to call it out.
3. We also want to highlight the importance of good sportsmanship. We are all still one team even when we play games at fun practice. We had some instances of poor sportsmanship from some older swimmers and we want to remind them that younger kids are watching how they act. We always want to cheer on other swimmers, whether on the same glider game team or not.
Attendance is so important to these kinds of events, and the teams get more points with more people showing up. This morning, Team Dolphin had the highest attendance and Team Sea Otter had the second highest attendance.
Pre-team swimmers can still earn points and participate in their teams, but we ask them not to come to Tuesday morning practices, as these games do require stronger swimming skills. But, there are many more ways to get involved than just fun practices, another email highlighting some of those ways will come out shortly.
A couple extra reminders,
- Meet planning (when coaches put swimmers into events for the upcoming meet) happens Wednesday nights, so if you know your swimmer will not be here for our meet against Avalon, please let us know as soon as possible!
- Bingo will be happening next Tuesday, June 20 from 7-8, this is for all swimmers, team and pre-team.
- Our next meet is at Avalon next Monday and will start at 6:00 PM. This is different than our usual start time, so be aware. Mark and Kristie will send out more details later this week, but our warm-ups will be at 5:30.
Avalon has invited us to participate in some parent relays, likely during half-time. If you are interested, please email Mark/Kristi at [email protected]. They can handle 2-3 teams from our team, so the sooner you respond, the more likely you can be on a team!
Thanks for a great start to the season!
