Weather policy for swim meets
All, I apologize for the multiple emails - trying to juggle a few things at once.
I know people are asking about the weather and cancellation of the swim meet. It is JRAC's preference that we try and get the meet in if at all possible on the night it is scheduled. By rule, we cannot make any cancellation/postponement decisions until 1 hour after the start of the meet or the point the meet has been suspended, in this case 7:30 if we don't start on time. At that point, the referee, and JRAC reps from both clubs would meet and make a decision based on our understanding of the weather, time and how much of the meet is remaining. If it is only raining, and no lightning/thunder, we would likely continue the meet. If there is lightning/thunder, then we would delay the meet, but plan on continuing after the weather passes. If we don't believe the weather will pass, we would then make the decision to postpone and start it up again the next night.
As of now, we do expect the weather to pass in time for us to have the meet tonight. I would recommend bringing extra towels, hoodies, sweatpants, etc for the swimmers between their events. Maybe a rain jacket for the parents!
Let me know if you have questions,
Mark
