Swimmers of the Week
Each week we honor swimmers who display good sportsmanship, determination, and positive attitudes. This week's swimmers of the week are...
Aubrey Conway: A new Glider who has near perfect practice attendance and the desire to learn new skills, Aubrey is a great addition to our 11-12 year old age group!
Zachary Lehatto: A Glider who was a part of pre-team last summer and is now a Champs qualifier in the 25 Breaststroke, Zac is a joy to coach. He comes to practice with a ready-to-learn attitude and tries his best each and every lap!
Note about DQs
This was novice breaststroke week - the hardest week of the summer, at least from a coaches' perspective. Breaststroke is the most technically difficult stroke, and it can take some swimmers several summers until they can put it all together. Some of the DQs stemmed from simple mistakes like not touching with two hands on each wall. Others were results of an illegal scissor kick or some freestyle kicks. We will continue to work on breaststroke skills throughout the rest of the summer. Please do not be discouraged - Annie Lazor, the 2020 Olympic bronze medalist in the 200m breaststroke just got DQ'ed yesterday at the World Championships!
RSVPs for Next Week's Meet
Please either reply to this email or send one to [email protected] if your swimmer will not be able to attend next week's meet (June 27th) at Three Chopt. They are a much smaller team and have an 8 lane pool, so the meet should go pretty quickly! Thank you!
- Your Coaches -
