Hello Gliders!

It's hard to believe, but the summer swim season is here!  Practice starts on Monday! A ton of information in this email, so please read it all.

Practice Schedule

Practices while school is in session is as follows:

8 and Under: 4:30 – 5:00 p.m.
9 to 10 Years Old: 5:00 - 5:45 p.m.
11 to 12 Years Old: 5:45 - 6:30 p.m.
13 & Older: 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

No practices on Fridays while school is in session and no practice on Monday, May 30 or the last day of school June 16. The summer practice schedule starts Friday morning June 17.

New swimmer evaluations

New swimmer evaluations are this Sunday, May 22 from 3-4 pm. This is primarily for new swimmers that need to be evaluated for the ability to swim a length of the pool. If you were on the team last year or you are confident that your swimmer can swim a length unassisted, then there is no need to be evaluated. If it is borderline, please come out to the evaluations. Sponsorships

We still have some opening for lane sponsors. These sponsorships help us with our coaches, fund shirts for all our swimmers, supports our scholarship fund and other swim team needs. If interested or want more information, please reach out to Mark at:

Billing

I will be working on getting invoices sent out to everyone later this week or early next week. Invoices will come through Square and can be paid through that invoice via credit card or ACH, or you can bring me or Kristi a check at practice.

Volunteering

As you may know, swimming is a community activity and planning and running a summer swim team requires a significant amount of volunteer help. We ask that each family sign up for at least 4 volunteer spots over the course of the summer.  I've opened up the job sign-ups for each swim meet on the website, which can be found by selecting the Calendar and then Key Dates. Each swim meet has their own sign up where you can see which jobs are available. 

I am in need of several "trained" volunteers (free and easy training is provided by the league) - particularly Verifier/Head Table. Please let me know if you are interested.

JRAC Swim and Drive Invitational

JRAC (our summer swim league) is holding the first ever JRAC Swim and Drive Invitational Golf tournament. This will benefit the JRAC Scholarship fund which has been fairly good to the Gliders over the years. Coach Adam won one last year, Coach Maddie won one two years ago and Coach Kelly won one a few years before that!

Cost for a team is $400 or a hole sponsorship is $100. The format is 18 hole golf scramble during the day and a timed 25 yard swim in the afternoon. Some complicated calculations will combine the golf score with the swim time to determine an overall winner.  Golfers and swimmers do not have to be the same person and the swimmers can be swimmers from the team.

The date for the tournament is Monday, June 6 at Stonehenge Golf and Country Club with the swim happening in the evening at one of our partner clubs.
