Good evening Glen Allen Gliders,

Our thanks to everyone for the rough start of practice today. We had a pump issue at the pool that caused us not to be able to get in the water. They are hard at work trying to get the issues resolved so we can get in the water as soon as possible. I hope to have an update tomorrow and will let everyone know via email the status of practice on Tuesday.  Look for the email around 3pm on Tuesday afternoon.

Remind
This is a good time to let everyone know about Remind, the texting service that we use for weather delays and other time-sensitive communications. For those not familiar with the service, it is an opt-in texting service that we use to send text messages periodically. To opt-in, you can text @gliders to 81010.

Volunteers
As most of you know, volunteers are a critical part of running a successful swim team. We need a lot of volunteers to put on the meets, both home and away. We require that each family sign up for at least 4 separate "shifts" as a volunteer. This can be done by going to the website and clicking on the individual meets. There the open positions will be listed.  For home meets, we need 50+ volunteer shifts filled to run a meet. The requirement for away meets is less, but critical as well.

Here is a quick summary of the jobs that we need to fill:

Some of these jobs require training, which is provided for free by the league via some Zoom training sessions (1-2 hours long max). We are in critical need for some of these jobs, so if you are interested in any of the following positions, please let me know as soon as possible. Training starts as soon as Wednesday of this week, and for most positions, there are at least 2 training sessions (only need to attend one).

Computer Operator - need 2
Head Table/Verifier - need 3
Head Timer - need 1
Strokes and Turns officials - Need 4-5

For each of these, the league is providing the training, and ask that the volunteer pre-registers.  Here is the link to the training schedule and registration:
