Hi Gliders!

Can you believe swim season is almost here? We are so excited and so happy to have more of a “normal” season this year and can’t wait to see all of your faces!

You will be getting more emails from us throughout the next couple of weeks with information as it comes but we wanted to send a quick one regarding practice times coming up NEXT week and new swimmer evaluations THIS Sunday!

New swimmer evaluations for 8+ unders will be at the pool THIS Sunday from 4-5p! Swimmers will be asked to swim the length of the pool.

Practices start THIS upcoming Monday, the 24th. Practices will be Monday-Thursday until June 17th when Henrico County Schools are out for the year. The new schedule will start June 21st for the summer and can be found on the website. https://gagliders.swimtopia.com/practice-schedule

Here is the schedule starting next week:

8 and Under: 4:00 – 4:30 p.m
9 to 12 Years Old: 4:30 - 5:15 p.m
13 to 18 Years Old: 5:15 - 6:15 p.m.

Also, we are thinking of having a “time trials” this year to have a good idea of times for swimmers. With last year’s times not counting for JRAC and some swimmers changing age groups from 2019, we thought it would be fun to try and have a mock meet. This will also allow us to help those swimmers that haven’t swum in a meet before, to have a good idea of how meets are run. We are tentatively planning this for the morning of June 5th but will let you know when we have more details. If you could let us know if this may work for you, that would be great so we could get an idea of how many could be there.

Finally, a couple of administrative items:

1. Mark will be preparing the invoices over the next few days for the registration fee. They will come from Square, so keep a look out for those

2. Volunteers - Now that the season is coming together, Mark will also be sending out an email to sign up for volunteer positions. We are in particular need for some key roles (computer, head table, starterm streokes and turns) to be filled as we lost parents due to graduations and other things, so please consider one of these roles. We do train!!. Remember, swim meets can't run without volunteers, so be prepared to sign up early and often!!
